There was this great fuss and a lot of both anticipation and speculation about exactly what and how Kelly Slater's clothing brand Outerknown would be.
I signed up to the news letters and had faith that the man himself would be doing something different and something that I could relate to and get involved in from a consumer standpoint. How wrong I was. To me the clothes seemed to be aimed at the Hamptons with a price tag to match. I felt (along with a lot of others) that the man had sold out a bit.
Maybe it was Kelly's wavepool video just after Da Souza won the World title that kind of banished the 'Outerknown Incident' from my mind and I have not given it another thought until I saw this short movie. It kind of explains a little bit more about the idea behind Outerknown and Kelly's drive to do it.
I know it's not, but it feels like an apology and you know what ,I accept it.
