Surfing is booming right now and more than ever, people are tuning in to watch the WSL Events on the greatly improved Webcast. Two years ago the 'Dreamtour' re-shaped itself and dumped the old name ASP to become the slick and improved WSL (World Surf League)
With the name change came a new team of commentators that include legends of the sport like Martin Potter, Peter Mel and stat heads like Joe Turpel and Ronnie Blakey. Let's also not forget the stunning Rosie Hodge and Pipe Legend, Strider Wasaluski. But you know all this already unless you have been hiding under a rock.
Since the changeover we have seen competitive fires re-lit from the surfing world archives in the shape of the 'Heritage Series'. Old rivalries like Tom Curran vs Occy at Jbay or Lisa Andersen vs Sofia Mulanovich at Lower Trestles. Which was awesome.
What we want to suggest here at Surf Bunker are some match ups that all the fans really want to see.
The Commentators Series. These guys.
Who would not want to see Pete Mel vs Martin Potter? or Strider vs Ross? or even Joe Turpel vs Ronnie Blakey? Just to make things even more crazy we could have some of the surfers in the commentary booth for the call. Imagine Mason Ho commentating?
