Now, I am not a tight arse, I don't mind paying the going rate for something, I might occasionally pay a little extra if I really like something (most surfboards), but come on, 18 bucks for a bar of surf wax...?

Okay, I am not going to rant about this because that would not help anyone, instead I just want to look at some of the surf wax that is out there, and see if there really is a difference.  Some of them are organic, some are sort of organic, some use palm oil, some beeswax and some manufacturers just won't tell you. I know because I have asked, I will not name names but I have been told that it is part of a 'secret formula' but that it is definitely organic and not to worry.

I have included a little video from Surf Sufficient in this post that demonstrates just how easy it is to make organic surf wax, yes you have to be near a pine tree and be able to get your hands on some beeswax, and as it turns out is not that cheap, doh, still it looks pretty cool to me.
