Here we go, the surfing year is about to kick off again, and this time there are some interesting new faces hitting the roster that will raise some questions.

Last year saw the rise of the young bloods and saw the old guys struggling to remain on control, this year we have 4 rookies that ALL look very capable.

Wiggoly Dantas – Brasil – He has been knocking on the door year after year and has never quite made the cut. I watched this guy surf in Hossegor at the Quik Pro France, and thought he was just amazing in the barrel, he has got the air game and he can turn, this guy could be a giant slayer for sure.

Ricardo Christe – New Zealand - It is awesome to have another Kiwi on tour and I believe he is the first ever RVCA sponsored guy to make it to the big leagues. Those thing aside, this guy has all the confidence in the world and unbelievable style, he has already shown that he can get the job done, I think he is definitely one to watch.

On the girls' tour, everyone is talking about the rookie Tatiana Weston-Webb. She was the injury wildcard on 3 stops last year and took no prisoners especially in the bigger stuff at Cloudbreak. She is from Kauai and her mother was a pro body-boarder, has been surfing full time since she was 8. She is not just a pretty face, so I think watch out everyone on the tour at the moment, this girl is there to stay.

Now enough of that, who is going to win? Gabriel, Kelly, Mick, Joel, Kolohe, I could go on to list most of the people on tour. That is what is making things even more exciting this year, it could be anyone’s day.

The whole thing is like a big, juicy cake and there is a cherry on the top and his name is DANE REYNOLDS.

Action kicks off tonight, watch it live http://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2015/mct/1207/quiksilver-pro-gold-coast
