What have Hurley done? They had a chance to make something super cool. Something that perhaps some of us dream about. So why didn’t they ask us.
One of the coolest things to happen in a long time has happened. Hurley and Chevy have got together and designed a car. Specifically for surfers. I know, right. Just think of the possibilities.
Why then, do I feel like I have hit in the face with a bag of spanners? They fluffed it, that's why. Of all the cool things they could have done, and they settle for, well, a wetsuit drying rack, some re-enforced roof bars and WiFi in the car.
The other (in my opinion) mistake they made, was designing it at aimed at the big wave market. How many big wave surfers are there? The answer is not very many. It’s kind of like aiming it at a Formula One or Nascar driver.
Okay, so the water/key bracelet thing is pretty cool but that's just not enough.I am going to write an email to Chevy and Hurley and include a lot of cool ideas that the ‘everyday’ surfer would appreciate as part of their car/truck/van. In the office, we came up with these ideas:
A ‘pop out’ rack for different fins.
A heatproof compartment for wax.- Integrated and up-to-date surf forecast by provider of your choice, free for 1 yr.
Air tight and smell proof compartment for wetsuits
Pop up tent on the roof
And that's just off the top of our heads in 2 mins...
Just to throw the eco card in there, this truck comes with a gas guzzling 3.6 litre V6 petrol (gasoline) engine. Not the most friendly for the planet option. Maybe that's where they should start, by giving it a hybrid or electric motor and some solar panels to charge it? I am not an expert but there has to be a better solution to this very important aspect.
My question to you is this:
What would you like to see in the truck/van/car? Let us know in the comments...
