Chipiron Shop

The last time I spoke to Damien Marley was about a year ago, he was busy shaping quality custom surfboards under his brand ‘Chipiron’ in the  surfing mecca of Hossegor , France.

So a year down the line and Chipiron has grown, expanded and now has a shop. Yep, a shop where you can go and rifle through some stock Chipiron boards and check out the quality of the finish yourself.

Knowing the attention to detail and quality of the Chipiron surfboards, it is unsurprising to see those same standards transfered across the whole brand. The shop is an experience you should have. There are some new board models that Mr Marley has out, but the 2105 Tracker mid length remains a favourite of both buyers and shaper alike.

The Chipiron shop itself is situated in Europe's best surf shopping centre, the Parc d' Activities Pedebert, Hossegor. I can say this because I have seen with my own eyes what is possible to exchange for some crisp Euro notes.

Amongst other things Damien has turned the shop into a place that you can go and feel, touch and be amazed by the Chipiron brand. The master shaper and entrepreneur has also created a kind of trade in centre for Chipiron boards and at the same time opening a dialogue to shape a new board for Chipiron customers.

The boards themselves have truly evolved in just the year since the last time we spoke to Chipiron, with the Tracker model leading the charge of neo retro wave vehicles. Some other models that you should definitely note are the Bontie Fish and the Heritage Longboard.

Damien is now at the point that every shaper wants to be at (kind of), he could shape more but that means he would loose control of production. He shapes between 70 and 100 boards in a year now and says some of these are on the machine and finished by hand.

Check out Damien's boards for sale in the new Chipiron shop, go and have a rifle through them to feel the quality of finish for yourself. If you are going to Hossegor for a surf trip I would put a visit here at the top of the list.
