Shaping his first board in San Diego California circa 1975 as a stoked grommet, Rex has been shaping consistently since 1981. He hasn't kept an official count of boards shaped, but it would be well over 20,000 by now. He has a solid foundation in surfing and shaping that has kept him surfing regularly around his home town of Forresters Beach, NSW and abroad. Rex has shaped boards around the globe and has ghost-shaped for such mainstream manufacturers as Xanadu, Webber, Channel Islands, Chilli, HIC/ Eric Arakawa, Dahlberg, Maurice Cole, to name a few and shaped boards for pros such as Bruce and Andy Irons, Taj Burrow, Josh Kerr, Dayyan Neve, Glenn "Micro" Hall, Mick Fanning, Mick Campbell, Lisa Andersen, Chelsea Hedges and many more over the years. He benefits from a hardcore following of rippers and an outstanding team. Their feedback help him create new exciting models regularly through exhaustive research and development. His focus with RMS is to continue to build a comprehensive catalogue of performance boards for progressive surfers and to help average surfers to reach their full potential.
