It’s Christmas time, people are buying each other Christmas presents and I have been told on many an occasion that I am a hard person to buy presents for. After all, I seem to have everything that makes me happy, my boards, my wetsuits, and I live next to one of the best breaks in the world. Yes, I have got all the important things in life and maybe I seem to be in a constant state of bliss which is probably because I am but, goodness me, don’t us surfers deserve presents too?
I thought I would write an quick but comprehensive list of the things that people could buy for me for Chrsitmas (as a surfer) from a ‘secret santa’ right up to full on crazy present.
Secret Santa - Stocking Filler

Eco Wax (for putting on the top of the surfboard) maybe some research as some people only use a certain brand.

Wetsuit detergent (for dilution with water) Rip Curl make a good one called ‘Piss Off’

Key Safe for locking you car keys up when you go for a surf. Northcore make the original one called the Keypod.

The ‘Pickle’ which is a wax remover like no other, about 5 dollars/pounds/euro
Medium Presents - from family, brothers, sisters, parents

Surfers Tool - has a lot of fold out tools that are super handy, wax remover/comb/FSC key/knot loosener.

The Stormrider Guides are every travellers must have or even just something to get your juices flowing if you are not planning a surf trip.

John John Florence has a new surf movie out called called ‘The View from a Blue Moon’. Claimed to be the best ever. Buy it.

A year’s subscription to your local surf magazine. Might need some research as to the particular flavour.
Crazy Presents - Spouse, girl/boy friend

Tide Watch with GPS from Rip Curl, amazingly useful and superbly over the top. Rip Curl make the best ones.

Jaxxon Surfboards course - stay at Jaxxon’s place for a week and he will help you shape your own board, you get the board and the knowledge.

Patagonia wetsuit, they are the most eco friendly by a country mile and they last for ever. You might have to be sneaky to find his/her size and what thickness is needed.

These are but a few ideas for those that think we are hard to buy for because we are so stoked. The sad fact is that I guarantee that if you asked us (surfers) as a group of people if we would rather have a week of perfect conditions or a wadge of cash most of us would be clearing our schedule for the next seven days.
